Keane reckons it’s time Tottenham parted with Dele Alli

Man Utd legend Roy Keane reckons it’s time Tottenham parted ways with Dele Alli  - for the midfielder's own good.

Alli joined Spurs from MK Dons as one of England’s brightest young talents back in 2015.

But the out-of-form 25-year-old has struggled for games in recent seasons and has only featured in six of new boss Antonio Conte’s 15 games in charge.

He was left out of the squad that lost to Chelsea in Sunday’s late kick-off amid speculation a move to Newcastle is on the cards.

And ex-Manchester United skipper Roy Keane says Spurs should let him go to give him a chance to rejuvenate his career.

Keane told Sky Sports: “I think the kid’s lost the eye of the tiger. Sometimes you’ve got to let the kid go, that’s the nature of football.

“You’ve done your time here, you’ve obviously lost your way. (Tottenham should) be good to the kid and go ‘you’ve been a good signing for us’.

“Let the kid go. (He could go to) Newcastle, get his career going up there. The fans would love him if he comes in.”

United target Declan Rice from West Ham

Manchester United target Declan Rice put aside West Ham’s last-minute woe at Old Trafford to say how much he loves playing there.

Hammers’ midfielder Rice stood out in United’s 1-0 Premier League win yesterday.

And afterwards he gently stoked speculation by telling Sky Sports: “I was loving it.

“Every time I come to Old Trafford, I’ve always said it’s one of my favourite places to play.

“It’s an amazing stadium.”

Weekend News Recap

Friday night’s Premier League clash between Watford and Norwich was plunged into chaos when the floodlights failed.

The floodlights in each corner of Vicarage Road began to dim and referee Mike Dean deemed it was unsafe to continue – even though visibility was not interrupted.

The delay lasted ten minutes before Dean consulted the two managers and captains and asked if they were happy to continue, which they were.

The game also produced one of the goals of the season when Norwich ace Josh Sargent flicked the ball with his heel goalwards and magically hit the net - before doubling the Canaries’ lead after the floodlight chaos.

Meanwhile, Chelsea pair Ben Chilwell and Reece James shared a photo together of their rehabilitation.

The Blues full-backs were all smiles in the gym as they worked on getting back to full fitness.

The English duo’s Blues team-mate Antonio Rudiger could end up staying at Stamford Bridge - if the club manage to stump up £220,000-a-week to meet the defender's demands.

However, Thomas Tuchel’s side will have to move swiftly as the German’s contract is up in the summer and Man United are hot on his heels.

United’s rivals Man City look set to beat them in the transfer race for River Plate’s Argentina international forward Julian Alvarez.

Reports in South America suggest a deal is close between City and the striker who was previously linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Romelu Lukaku is a ticking timebomb

Jamie Carragher is concerned Romelu Lukaku is a ticking timebomb and Chelsea could soon lose patience with the star man.

The Sky Sports pundit believes the striker, 28, does not really fit in at Chelsea – just like he didn’t at Manchester United.

He wrote in The Telegraph: “When Romelu Lukaku signed for Chelsea, the consensus was that he was a different player to that which left Manchester United.

“Six months later, there is only one valid observation to make about his return to Stamford Bridge. He isn’t.

“All the talk about how a couple of years working with this weekend’s opponent, Antonio Conte, have elevated Lukaku’s game tactically has proven premature.

“Thomas Tuchel is managing the same striker who prompted Manchester United to run out of patience and sell him to Inter Milan.

Man City chasing River Plate’s Argentina international forward Julian Alvarez

Man City are closing in on a deal for River Plate’s Argentina international forward Julian Alvarez.

The 21-year-old – who is rated at around £17million by his club – has previously been linked with Manchester United.

But neighbours City have moved ahead in the race for his signature.

And reports in South America suggest a deal is close.

Alvarez is likely to spend the remainder of the season with River Plate as part of the agreement.

Then City would decide whether he links up with Pep Guardiola’s squad or joins one of the other teams in the City Football Group initially.

He has enjoyed an outstanding season in Argentina – scoring 18 goals and laying on seven assists in just 21 games so far.

Erling Haaland Not for Manchester United

Manchester United will not move for in-demand striker Erling Haaland.

According to ESPN, United will target other strikers after hearing Haaland’s first choice is Spanish giants Real Madrid.

United currently have Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Elanga and Mason Greenwood on their books.

The Norwegian is believed to have a £64million release clause.
