Rudiger hit by 'objects' thrown by Tottenham fans

Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger was reportedly hit by objects thrown by Tottenham fans during the Blues' 2-0 win.

The Blues defender appeared to be struck by missiles in ugly scenes involving a section of away supporters.

The incident follows similar crowd trouble as Aston Villa claimed a 1-0 win away at Everton on Saturday.

Villa’s Matty Cash and new signing Lucas Digne - who joined from the Toffees earlier this month - were struck by bottles lobbed from the home support.

Several plastic bottles were hurled towards the pitch as the visiting stars celebrated Emi Buendia’s headed goal at Goodison Park.

Rudiger appeared to be targeted by Spurs fans in a fiery London derby.

The Germany international could be seen turning towards away fans as an object was thrown in his direction.

It came as his Chelsea side closed out a 2-0 victory in the day’s late kick-off.

Hakim Ziyech opened the scoring after the break with a left-footed screamer from the top of the box.

Veteran defender Thiago Silva then followed up with a second just eight minutes later.

Harry Kane thought lead against Chelsea celebrations cut short

Harry Kane thought he'd given Tottenham the lead against Chelsea, until referee Paul Tierney cut his celebrations short.

England captain Kane collected a low cross from Ryan Sessegnson, before turning and firing past Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

The only problem though was Tierney spotted a foul in the build-up to the goal.

As Kane controlled the ball from Sessesgnon, the striker put an arm on Thiago Silva's back before slotting into the back of the net.

That arm in the back was judged to have been a push, as Silva was sent sprawling to the floor.

Gary Neville though was left in disbelief at the decision, saying on punditry duty for Sky Sports: "That is not a foul. No chance.

"I mean look there's an arm there from Harry Kane, but that is not a foul for me."

And fans on social media agreed, as one fumed: "The game is gone if that’s a foul."

While another said: "Harry Kane has been robbed of a goal."

It's after Liverpool were awarded a controversial penalty earlier in their game against Crystal Palace, as fans on social media lamented both decisions.

Glen Johnson is pleased Thiago Silva signed a new contract

Former Chelsea player Glen Johnson is pleased Thiago Silva signed a new contract but he urged The Blues to tie up other stars.

Several players' contracts are expiring at the end of the season, including defenders Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta.

And although Chelsea extended Thiago Silva's stay by a further year earlier this month, there is plenty of work to be done.

Johnson told Bettingodds.com: "I don’t think Thiago Silva staying eases the pressure off keeping Rüdiger - I think Chelsea still need to sign Rüdiger to a new contract.

"Silva has only signed for another year and he can’t play every single week.

"They’ve done well to keep him but I think Chelsea need to make sure Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rüdiger are kept long-term as well.

"Silva has been fantastic since he came to Chelsea. Helping all the young players, the guy’s got experience coming out of his ears, and he’s still enjoying his football.

"It’s great that he’s signed another year.”
