Growing crowd trouble could wreck the special atmosphere at English grounds - Thomas Tuchel

Thomas Tuchel fears growing crowd trouble could wreck the special atmosphere at English grounds.

Chelsea’s boss spoke out after Antonio Rudiger was hit by a bottle opener and a lighter hurled from the section of Stamford Bridge housing Tottenham’s fans.

Blues defender Rudiger made it known to referee Paul Tierney but is not taking the matter further.

This incident comes at the end of a weekend in which disorder has resurfaced at Premier League grounds.

Objects were hurled by Everton fans in their defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday and there were pitch invasions at Southampton during their draw with Manchester City that evening.

Tuchel said: “If it’s a new trend we should act together to stop it as soon as possible to protect the environment of this game and the atmosphere that’s absolutely unique in England.

“I love to have the fans close to the pitch.

“Not behind fences and not behind nets. It’s a brilliant atmosphere.

Harry Kane thought lead against Chelsea celebrations cut short

Harry Kane thought he'd given Tottenham the lead against Chelsea, until referee Paul Tierney cut his celebrations short.

England captain Kane collected a low cross from Ryan Sessegnson, before turning and firing past Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

The only problem though was Tierney spotted a foul in the build-up to the goal.

As Kane controlled the ball from Sessesgnon, the striker put an arm on Thiago Silva's back before slotting into the back of the net.

That arm in the back was judged to have been a push, as Silva was sent sprawling to the floor.

Gary Neville though was left in disbelief at the decision, saying on punditry duty for Sky Sports: "That is not a foul. No chance.

"I mean look there's an arm there from Harry Kane, but that is not a foul for me."

And fans on social media agreed, as one fumed: "The game is gone if that’s a foul."

While another said: "Harry Kane has been robbed of a goal."

It's after Liverpool were awarded a controversial penalty earlier in their game against Crystal Palace, as fans on social media lamented both decisions.

Matt Doherty somehow escaped a red card for a horror challenge

Tottenham's Matt Doherty somehow escaped a red card for a horror challenge on Chelsea ace Malang Sarr in the first-half at Stamford Bridge.

The Irishman went in extremely late on the centre-back, dragging his studs down the inside of his shin and Blues fans online were fuming.

It was just before the 20 minute mark when Sarr broke forward by the half-way line with Doherty in pursuit.

The Frenchman looked to have plenty of time as he laid a simple pass off, but how wrong he was.

As Sarr played the ball, Doherty lunged with his left and his studs scraped down the inside of the 23-year-old's leg - leaving him writhing on the ground in agony.

Medical staff rushed on as the match announcer confirmed a VAR check was taking place.

But the Stockley Park officials, led by VAR Darren England, decided the challenge did not warrant a red.

Paul Tierney had also NOT booked the former Wolves man so the game, and Sarr after lengthy treatment, carried on.

But Blues fans were not happy on social media.

'Ankle-breaker' and 'disgusting' were just some of the words used by shocked supporters.
