Lampard reckons Loftus-Cheek can save the Toffees

Everton are reportedly hoping to bring in Chelsea star Ruben Loftus-Cheek to ease their midfield injury crisis.

But Blues boss Thomas Tuchel is far from keen on the idea.

Incoming Goodison chief Frank Lampard reckons Loftus-Cheek can save the Toffees from the drop.

However, it will be hard for Everton to convince Tuchel to part ways, with the German a huge fan of Loftus-Cheek.

Growing crowd trouble could wreck the special atmosphere at English grounds - Thomas Tuchel

Thomas Tuchel fears growing crowd trouble could wreck the special atmosphere at English grounds.

Chelsea’s boss spoke out after Antonio Rudiger was hit by a bottle opener and a lighter hurled from the section of Stamford Bridge housing Tottenham’s fans.

Blues defender Rudiger made it known to referee Paul Tierney but is not taking the matter further.

This incident comes at the end of a weekend in which disorder has resurfaced at Premier League grounds.

Objects were hurled by Everton fans in their defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday and there were pitch invasions at Southampton during their draw with Manchester City that evening.

Tuchel said: “If it’s a new trend we should act together to stop it as soon as possible to protect the environment of this game and the atmosphere that’s absolutely unique in England.

“I love to have the fans close to the pitch.

“Not behind fences and not behind nets. It’s a brilliant atmosphere.

Weekend News Recap

Friday night’s Premier League clash between Watford and Norwich was plunged into chaos when the floodlights failed.

The floodlights in each corner of Vicarage Road began to dim and referee Mike Dean deemed it was unsafe to continue – even though visibility was not interrupted.

The delay lasted ten minutes before Dean consulted the two managers and captains and asked if they were happy to continue, which they were.

The game also produced one of the goals of the season when Norwich ace Josh Sargent flicked the ball with his heel goalwards and magically hit the net - before doubling the Canaries’ lead after the floodlight chaos.

Meanwhile, Chelsea pair Ben Chilwell and Reece James shared a photo together of their rehabilitation.

The Blues full-backs were all smiles in the gym as they worked on getting back to full fitness.

The English duo’s Blues team-mate Antonio Rudiger could end up staying at Stamford Bridge - if the club manage to stump up £220,000-a-week to meet the defender's demands.

However, Thomas Tuchel’s side will have to move swiftly as the German’s contract is up in the summer and Man United are hot on his heels.

United’s rivals Man City look set to beat them in the transfer race for River Plate’s Argentina international forward Julian Alvarez.

Reports in South America suggest a deal is close between City and the striker who was previously linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Romelu Lukaku is a ticking timebomb

Jamie Carragher is concerned Romelu Lukaku is a ticking timebomb and Chelsea could soon lose patience with the star man.

The Sky Sports pundit believes the striker, 28, does not really fit in at Chelsea – just like he didn’t at Manchester United.

He wrote in The Telegraph: “When Romelu Lukaku signed for Chelsea, the consensus was that he was a different player to that which left Manchester United.

“Six months later, there is only one valid observation to make about his return to Stamford Bridge. He isn’t.

“All the talk about how a couple of years working with this weekend’s opponent, Antonio Conte, have elevated Lukaku’s game tactically has proven premature.

“Thomas Tuchel is managing the same striker who prompted Manchester United to run out of patience and sell him to Inter Milan.

Is Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is lacking confidence?

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is lacking confidence and coming up with excuses like he did at Paris Saint-Germain, according to Arsenal legend Emmanuel Petit.

Petit told Bookmakers.co.uk: “What is happening on the pitch for Chelsea now, reminds me of what it was like under Tuchel at Paris Saint-Germain when things started to go wrong there.

“Trouble started in newspapers, the pressure came on from the media and fans, powerful players within the club were questioning him all the time and it continued week after week.

“You could see physically he had changed during press conferences and on the bench in games.

“That cool attitude he has just wasn’t there. He was getting aggressive and was also looking for excuses from outside the club”.

Thomas Tuchel, Romelu Lukaku Hold Showdown Talks on Chelsea Future

Thomas Tuchel has confirmed Romelu Lukaku will hold showdown talks with Chelsea on Monday.

The Belgian recently admitted he is "not happy" at Stamford Bridge after his £97.5million move from Inter Milan last summer.

Lukaku's surprising comments to the Italian press were made a few weeks ago, but were not broadcast until the end of December.

Chelsea manager Tuchel dropped the striker for Sunday's Premier League game against Liverpool - which finished 2-2 - as a result of the comments.

He's now set to discuss his future with the Blues, with a January transfer potentially on the horizon.
